KP leaders visit Aman Jirga site to enhance peace efforts and review security measures for upcoming events.
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) region is currently witnessing significant political and social activities aimed at addressing pressing issues. Recently, Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi visited the Aman Jirga site in District Khyber, highlighting the government's commitment to ensuring peace and security in the area. The Aman Jirga is a traditional gathering aimed at fostering dialogue and resolving conflicts within the community.
During his visit, Chief Minister Gandapur assessed the security and logistical arrangements for the Jirga. He was accompanied by various provincial government representatives, senior officials from the divisional and district administration, and police officers. The Chief Minister received a detailed briefing on the security measures in place and emphasized the need for immediate action to provide essential facilities for the participants. He specifically instructed the administration to ensure the availability of water, temporary washrooms, lighting, medical camps, and five thousand blankets for those attending the Jirga.
The atmosphere at the site was lively, with participants expressing their appreciation for the Chief Minister's visit. Many took selfies and chanted slogans such as “Long live the Chief Minister,” showcasing their support for the local leadership. Additionally, prayers were offered for lasting peace in the country, reflecting the community's desire for stability and harmony.
In a parallel effort, Governor Kundi visited the Pakhtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) Jirga ground in Khyber district. His visit aimed to review the security situation ahead of an upcoming event organized by the PTM, which is set to address the deteriorating law and order conditions in the province. Accompanied by local officials, including Jalal Khan, a Member of the Provincial Assembly from PMLN, and Riaz Mehsud, the Commissioner of Peshawar Division, the Governor was briefed on the necessary security measures to ensure the safety of the public during the event.
Governor Kundi stressed the importance of maintaining law and order, directing the relevant authorities to prioritize peace and security for all citizens. The PTM's three-day Jirga is particularly significant as it seeks to bring attention to the challenges faced by the community and advocate for solutions to improve the situation.
