Marriyum Aurangzeb holds PTI accountable for violence leading to constable's martyrdom, urging unity against divisive politics in Pakistan.
On May 9, a tragic incident unfolded in Pakistan, leading to the martyrdom of constable Abdul Hameed, who was injured during violent protests involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists. This event has sparked significant outrage and condemnation from various quarters, particularly from government officials. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has been vocal in her criticism, holding those involved in the violence accountable for their actions.
Marriyum Aurangzeb described the individual responsible for the chaos as a "shameless narcissist and fascist." She expressed her dismay at the mindset that seems to prevail among certain factions, characterized by statements such as, "If I’m not there, destroy everything," and "Set the country on fire, kill everyone, burn everything down." Such rhetoric, she argued, does not reflect the values or sentiments of the Pakistani people.
In her statements, Aurangzeb pointed fingers at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, accusing him of being armed and prepared for violence against Islamabad. She claimed that Imran Khan, the leader of PTI, had provided Gandapur with weapons, tear gas shells, and glass slingshots, all intended to incite chaos and bloodshed. The minister highlighted that the attacks were specifically aimed at police and Rangers, with a focus on targeting their heads and eyes, marking the day as another instance of the violence witnessed on May 9.
Furthermore, Aurangzeb emphasized that the attacks were not random but rather targeted national security institutions, with the intent to seize control over their leadership. She noted that the recent events were aimed at undermining democratic institutions, particularly with the goal of postponing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and gaining influence over the judiciary.
In her remarks, Aurangzeb asserted that both the May 9 violence and the recent attacks were orchestrated by the same individual, who is now facing the reality that Pakistan's foreign relations are improving and the economy is stabilizing. She firmly stated that the divisive politics propagated by this individual have reached their end, labeling those who participated in the anti-state conspiracy as "traitors to Pakistan and the nation."
This situation serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of peace and order in any society. The actions of a few can have devastating consequences for many, and it is crucial for citizens to remain vigilant against divisive rhetoric and violence. As Pakistan navigates its path forward, the importance of unity and respect for democratic institutions cannot be overstated. The nation must come together to ensure that such incidents do not repeat, fostering a culture of dialogue and understanding instead of chaos and destruction.
