Maryam Nawaz calls for KP government to focus on citizen welfare and launches Himmat Card for differently-abled individuals.

In a recent address, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens rather than engaging in conflicts with other provinces. This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about inter-provincial relations and the need for cooperation among Pakistan's regions. Maryam emphasized that the people of KP are integral to the fabric of Punjab, stating, "If KPK is ours then Punjab also belongs to them. People from KPK are doing business in every city of Punjab. Those invading Punjab are in fact attacking their own people."

During the event, Maryam launched the 'Himmat Card,' a special initiative aimed at supporting differently-abled individuals in Punjab. This card will provide financial assistance of Rs10,500 every three months to 65,000 eligible beneficiaries, marking a significant step towards inclusivity and support for marginalized communities. The Chief Minister expressed her commitment to the welfare of all citizens, saying, "I invite the people to think that the country only progresses during the tenure of PML-N. The grievances of the poor and deserving are redressed during the tenure of PML-N."

Maryam highlighted the economic challenges faced by the country, attributing the rise in inflation to the "criminal negligence of inefficient and inept rulers" over the past few years. She noted that inflation had peaked at 38 percent but has now decreased to 6.9 percent, showcasing the PML-N's efforts to stabilize the economy. She pointed out the disparity in bread prices between Punjab and KP, stating, "In KP, the price of bread has gone up to Rs.25 and no one cares about it."

In addition to financial support, the Himmat Card will also serve as a travel card, allowing differently-abled individuals to travel for free on the Orange Line and Metro Buses in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi starting from October 15. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for those in need, with plans to expand the number of Himmat Cards beyond the initial 65,000. Maryam stated, "The Punjab government is offering Himmat Cards to differently-abled individuals who lack the means to earn a living. With this assistance, they will no longer be a burden on society or their families."

During the launch ceremony, a documentary titled "Hope and Success Journey" was screened, showcasing various initiatives of the Punjab government, including the Himmat Card Project. The event also featured sign language translation to ensure inclusivity for differently-abled attendees. The first Himmat Card was presented to Rana Muhammad Adeel from Gujrat, marking a significant moment in the initiative's rollout.

Furthermore, Maryam announced the establishment of a special police force to prevent encroachment on the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) land, emphasizing the importance of protecting public resources. She directed authorities to coordinate with international organizations to ensure the timely completion of RUDA projects, which aim to enhance urban development and environmental sustainability.

Maryam Nawaz's recent initiatives reflect a commitment to social welfare and economic stability in Punjab. By focusing on the needs of differently-abled individuals and advocating for inter-provincial harmony, the Chief Minister is setting a precedent for inclusive governance. As Pakistan continues to navigate its complex socio-economic landscape, such initiatives are crucial for fostering unity and progress across the nation.
