Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Plan Launch of Air Punjab Airline

In a significant development for the aviation sector in Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has disclosed that his daughter, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is contemplating the launch of a new airline named "Air Punjab." During a recent statement, Nawaz Sharif mentioned, "Maryam has asked me why not we should launch a new airline and give it the name of Air Punjab." As of October 31, the bidding process for the privatization of PIA has commenced, but it has not attracted much interest. Currently, there is only one participant in the bidding, Saad Nazir, the chairman of Blue World City, who has placed a bid of Rs10 billion. This amount falls significantly short of the Privatisation Commission's expectations, which were set at Rs85.03 billion.
