A Provincial Joint Commission has been formed to ensure fair distribution of gas and petroleum royalties in North Waziristan, benefiting local communities.
The recent discovery of petroleum and gas resources in North Waziristan has opened new avenues for development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Recognizing the importance of these resources, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken a significant step by constituting a Provincial Joint Commission. This commission aims to ensure the fair distribution of development funds derived from the royalties of these natural resources, which is crucial for the local population.
The newly formed commission consists of 13 members, including key figures such as the Advisor to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, and other notable representatives from various sectors. This diverse group is tasked with protecting the rights of the local communities and ensuring that they benefit from the revenues generated by the petroleum and gas resources.
According to the official notification, the commission will not only focus on the fair distribution of funds but will also work on formulating long-term policies. These policies are intended to ensure that the natural resources are utilized in a manner that benefits the country, the region, and the local population. The commission will act as a bridge between the local communities, provincial and federal governments, and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration and communication.
One of the key responsibilities of the commission is to guarantee the supply of gas from Shewa to Daud Khel, which is vital for the energy needs of the region. By ensuring a steady supply, the commission aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and promote economic growth.
The establishment of the Provincial Joint Commission marks a pivotal moment for the people of North Waziristan. It reflects a commitment to transparency and fairness in the management of natural resources. As the commission embarks on its mission, it is essential for all stakeholders to work together to ensure that the benefits of these resources are equitably shared, paving the way for a prosperous future for the local communities.
