Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif prioritizes public safety and cleanliness in Multan, addressing crime and sanitation issues.
In recent times, the safety and security of citizens have become paramount concerns for governments worldwide. In Pakistan, particularly in the Punjab province, the government is taking significant steps to ensure the well-being of its residents. On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif convened a special meeting to address these pressing issues, focusing on the Multan Division.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to protect the lives and properties of the general public. She stated, “The Punjab government will go to every extent to protect its citizens from miscreants and criminals.” This strong commitment reflects the government's determination to tackle crime and enhance public safety.
The Chief Minister was updated on the current law and order situation in Multan, where she received detailed briefings from the Regional Police Officer (RPO). The RPO outlined the steps being taken to suppress criminal activities and ensure the safety of the community. Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the efforts of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner for their work in maintaining cleanliness in the city, which is an essential aspect of public health and safety.
One of the key initiatives discussed was the “Suthra Punjab Campaign,” aimed at improving sanitation and cleanliness across the province. The Chief Minister was informed that the outsourcing of cleanliness services in 14 tehsils has been completed, while the process is still ongoing in six others. This initiative is crucial, especially in light of the recent decrease in dengue virus cases in Multan, which has been a significant health concern.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed local officials to visit villages and personally assess the cleanliness levels, highlighting the importance of hands-on management in public health. Additionally, she addressed the issue of stray dog bites, urging authorities to take action to control such incidents in the Multan area.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister was informed about the anti-smog campaign, during which a fine of Rs4.4 million was imposed, and 44 brick kilns were destroyed for failing to comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These actions demonstrate the government's commitment to environmental health and safety.
The proactive measures taken by the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reflect a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. As the government continues to address these critical issues, it is essential for the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with local authorities. Together, through community engagement and government action, a safer and cleaner Punjab can be achieved for all.
