ISLAMABAD - In a significant move reflecting the current security climate, strict security arrangements were implemented for the recent session of the National Assembly and the Senate. This session was particularly important as it involved the approval of the 26th constitutional amendment. The measures taken were aimed at ensuring the safety of all attendees and maintaining order during the proceedings.

A spokesperson for the National Assembly issued a press release early in the day, outlining the new entry regulations. Only media representatives who possess full-session press gallery cards, issued by the Directorate General of Media at the National Assembly Secretariat, were permitted to enter Parliament House. This decision came as the issuance of one-day press gallery cards was halted, emphasizing the need for stricter control over who can access the premises.

In light of heightened security concerns, journalists were strongly advised to carry their press gallery cards at all times. National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq took additional steps to ensure the decorum of the session by banning the recording of mobile videos from the press gallery. He explicitly instructed journalists, saying, "Please refrain from making mobile videos from the press gallery." This directive underscores the importance of maintaining a focused and respectful environment during parliamentary discussions.

Moreover, local police have implemented special security measures both inside and around the Parliament premises. Entry to Constitutional Avenue was also restricted, further highlighting the seriousness of the security situation. These precautions are not just about protecting the members of the assembly but also about ensuring the safety of the public and the media present.

The stringent security measures taken during the Parliament sessions reflect a growing awareness of the need for safety in political environments. As citizens, it is crucial to understand that these regulations, while sometimes inconvenient, are put in place to protect the democratic process and the individuals involved. The balance between security and accessibility is delicate, and it is essential for all stakeholders to cooperate in maintaining this balance for the greater good of society.
