Matt Kuchar and Webb Simpson Qualify for U.S. Open

PGA Tour veterans Matt Kuchar and Webb Simpson have successfully secured their spots in the upcoming U.S. Open through the final qualifying process known as 'Golf's Longest Day.' This challenging 36-hole qualifier involved 672 players from the U.S. and Canada, with 44 qualifiers earning the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina.

Matt Kuchar, aged 45, emerged as the standout performer at his qualifying event held at The Bear's Club in Jupiter, Florida. His exceptional rounds of 70 and 67 resulted in a total score of 7 under par for the day. Despite not having won a major championship yet, Kuchar's impressive track record includes nine PGA Tour victories and a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the Official World Golf Ranking. His recent form did not grant him any exemptions into the U.S. Open, making his successful qualification through the final qualifier all the more significant.

Webb Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open champion, also navigated through the final qualifying stage to secure his place in the 2023 U.S. Open field. While his exemption from winning the 2012 U.S. Open expired after 2022, Simpson managed to earn a spot for this year's tournament. It is worth noting that he has not made a cut at a major championship since the 2022 PGA Championship.
