Saudi Arabia Hosts Hajj Amid Gaza Conflict

Over a million Muslims recently converged in Makkah for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, a significant event in Islam. This year's pilgrimage took place against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the sweltering summer heat. The worshippers, donned in traditional attire, gathered at the Grand Mosque to perform sacred rituals around the Kaaba, expressing their sorrow over the prolonged Israel-Hamas war.

The conflict, which originated from Hamas's attack on southern Israel in October, has led to substantial casualties on both sides. Despite the tensions, Saudi Arabia, as the host of the Hajj, extended a special invitation to 1,000 pilgrims from Gaza, including families of martyrs and the wounded.

Despite the intense summer heat, authorities took proactive measures to safeguard pilgrims from heat-related illnesses. These measures included the installation of misting systems, heat-reflective road coverings, and advisories for pilgrims to stay hydrated and carry umbrellas due to the soaring temperatures.
