The World Food Safety Day event at NED University highlighted the importance of stringent regulations, collaboration, and innovation in ensuring food safety and public health protection.

The World Food Safety Day event recently held at NED University of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with the Institute of Engineers, Pakistan and Sindh Food Authority (SFA) shed light on the critical need for stringent food safety measures to protect public health. The Director-General of SFA, Agha Fakhur Hussain Durrani, reiterated the organization's commitment to ensuring food safety through strict regulations and proactive strategies. Emphasizing the significance of accurate labeling, training programs, regulatory compliance, and innovation, Durrani underlined the importance of safeguarding consumers from potential health risks associated with unsafe food practices.

Dr. Seema Ashraf, a key speaker at the event, emphasized the necessity for provincial food standards to align with Federal and international regulations to ensure uniformity and consistency in food safety practices across the country. Technical experts, including Adnan Sultan, Dr. Habiba Shah, and Dr. Zubala Yasir Lutfi, advocated for increased collaboration among academia, industry stakeholders, and Sindh Food Authority to elevate standards for unpacked foods and enhance awareness among household food handlers.

The World Food Safety Day event at NED University served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of robust food safety measures and collaborative efforts to safeguard public health.
