AT&T is raising prices for older 'unlimited' data plans, offering enhanced features with increased data allowances. Customers are advised to consider switching to newer plans for cost-effectiveness.

AT&T has announced a price increase for customers still on older 'unlimited' data plans, set to take effect in August. Multi-line plan subscribers can expect a monthly bill hike of up to $20, while single-line customers will see a $10 increase. The rationale behind this adjustment is AT&T's offering of additional high-speed data and hotspot data as enhanced features.

Specific old plans will now come with increased data allowances. For instance, plans like AT&T Unlimited Choice, Choice II, Choice Enhanced, Unlimited &More, and Unlimited Value will provide 75GB of high-speed data and 30GB of hotspot data. On the other hand, plans such as AT&T Unlimited Plus, Plus Enhanced, Unlimited &More Premium, and AT&T Unlimited (with TV) will offer 100GB of high-speed data and 60GB of hotspot data. However, Connected Car plans will maintain their high-speed data benefits but will not include hotspot data.

AT&T is advising some customers to consider switching to the newer 'unlimited' plans, which are priced between $65.99 and $85.99 per month for a single line, excluding taxes and fees. These plans offer competitive benefits and may prove to be more cost-effective for certain users.

As AT&T moves towards phasing out older 'unlimited' data plans, customers are urged to evaluate their current plans and consider the benefits of transitioning to the updated offerings. While the price increase may come as a disappointment to some, the added high-speed data and hotspot data allocations aim to enhance the overall user experience. It is essential for subscribers to assess their data needs and weigh the options available to ensure they are getting the most value out of their mobile plans.
