Nangarhar Customs officials have observed a notable change in trade dynamics between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The latest data indicates a decrease in imports from Pakistan and a simultaneous increase in Afghanistan's exports. This transformation is primarily due to the challenges faced in the export-import process, prompting authorities in Kabul to seek alternative import routes. Consequently, imports from Pakistan have dwindled while exports have surged, with traders increasingly opting for the Chabahar port for their import activities.

Despite the fluctuation in trade volumes, Nangarhar Customs revenue has remained steady, as confirmed by Mohammad Khalid Omar, the head of Nangarhar Customs. However, the decline in imports from Pakistan has had a direct impact on drivers operating along the Torkham-Kabul route, leading to a reduction in their business engagements.
