The global securities finance industry witnessed a significant 16% decline in revenue during the second quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Lenders generated a total revenue of $2.53 billion, while broker-to-broker activities saw a 9% decrease year-over-year, bringing in an additional $696 million in revenue.

Notable regional trends included a 33% drop in equity revenue in EMEA, a 19% decrease in North America, and an 8% increase in APAC. Global fixed income performance also declined by 11% in Q2, with corporate debt revenue falling by 32%, although government securities revenue remained relatively stable.

In June 2024, the industry generated $790 million in revenue, marking an 11% decrease from the previous year. Top earners for the month included Lucid Group, Trump Media & Technology Group, Canopy Growth Corporation NPV, Beyond Meat Inc., and ImmunityBio Inc., collectively generating $56 million in revenue.
