Hyundai Motor India celebrates the first anniversary of 'Samarth by Hyundai', promoting inclusivity for individuals with disabilities.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has recently celebrated a significant milestone, marking the first anniversary of its initiative, "Samarth by Hyundai." Launched in 2023, this program aims to support individuals with disabilities in India, aligning with Hyundai Motor Company's global vision of "Progress for Humanity." The initiative focuses on raising awareness and fostering a movement for the inclusion of people with disabilities, which is crucial in a country where such inclusivity is often overlooked.

Over the past year, HMIL has made remarkable progress through various initiatives under the "Samarth by Hyundai" banner. The company has worked diligently to create awareness, provide support, and offer opportunities for people with disabilities. This commitment to inclusivity is evident in the accessible environments established at HMIL dealerships, the launch of disabled-friendly vehicle accessories, and the formation of partnerships with NGOs and other stakeholders.

The culmination event of this initiative was a grand affair, attended by notable dignitaries from the Government of India, including Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, the Hon'ble Minister of Sports, and Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Hon'ble Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment. During the event, HMIL honored seven Paralympians who have excelled in their respective sports, showcasing the achievements of individuals supported by the "Samarth by Hyundai" initiative.

Additionally, HMIL presented its "Charter of Recommendation for Enhancing Accessibility and Inclusivity" to the government, seeking support to further the cause of inclusivity in India. This charter emphasizes the need for better policies and infrastructure to accommodate individuals with disabilities, reinforcing HMIL's dedication to advocating for change.

To recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations contributing to the empowerment of people with disabilities, HMIL announced the launch of the "Samarth Hero Awards." This initiative aims to celebrate those who are making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Mr. Unsoo Kim, the Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited, expressed pride in the achievements of the first year, stating, "At Hyundai, we believe in making a meaningful impact beyond mobility. 'Samarth by Hyundai' is a testament to our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all." His words reflect the company's vision and the importance of collaboration with partners and stakeholders to drive change.

Throughout the year, HMIL has implemented various initiatives to promote inclusivity. A notable effort was the launch of a 360-degree media campaign featuring Bollywood superstar Mr. Shah Rukh Khan as the ambassador for "Samarth by Hyundai." This campaign has reached over 300 million people across India, sharing inspirational stories and raising awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

Moreover, HMIL has made its dealerships more accessible, ensuring wheelchair access at most locations. The company also introduced TurnPlus, a swivel seat mechanism designed to assist individuals with disabilities in entering and exiting vehicles easily. These efforts demonstrate HMIL's commitment to creating a supportive environment for all.

In partnership with organizations like GoSports Foundation and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, HMIL has provided holistic support for individuals with disabilities. Initiatives such as the International Bilateral Blind Men's Cricket Series and the Samarth Para-Sports Programme have not only raised awareness but also offered platforms for athletes with disabilities to showcase their talents.

As we reflect on the achievements of "Samarth by Hyundai," it is clear that the initiative has made significant strides in promoting inclusivity and support for individuals with disabilities in India. The journey towards a more inclusive society is ongoing, and it is essential for companies, governments, and communities to work together to ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to thrive. By continuing to advocate for change and support individuals with disabilities, we can create a brighter future for all.
