Pakistan and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral economic cooperation through the convening of the Japan-Pakistan High-Level Economic Policy Dialogue. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Mr. Wada Mitsuhiro, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, and Mr. Ahad Khan Cheema, the Federal Economic Affairs Minister of Pakistan. The discussions highlighted the longstanding partnership between the two countries, dating back to 1954, and emphasized the shared values and perspectives on global issues.
Minister Cheema expressed Pakistan's deep appreciation for Japan's economic assistance and underscored its importance. Ambassador Wada reiterated Japan's dedication to supporting Pakistan in key sectors such as health, education, environment, and water. He also provided updates on Japan's ongoing development projects in Pakistan, including assistance following the 2022 floods and scholarships for civil service officers.
In response, Minister Cheema assured continued collaboration with Japan to ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of existing projects, further solidifying the strong ties between the two nations.
