The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Exporters Association has urged the government to introduce incentives for exporting goods to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics in Pakistani rupees. The demand was raised during a meeting in Landikotal city of Khyber District, chaired by President Haji Jabir. The association emphasized the need for a legal channel to streamline payment processes and avoid complications with law enforcement agencies.

Furthermore, the exporters called for converting trade of 16 items from PKR to US dollars to benefit from the State Bank of Pakistan's rebate payment system. They highlighted the lack of rebates for exports in Pakistani currency, leading to concerns over legal complexities during customs clearance.

President Haji Jabir highlighted the significant contribution of commercial exporters from KP region, amounting to US$2 billion in remittances through exports to Afghanistan. The business community plans to engage with Ministry for Commerce and Industry officials to address export challenges.

Coordinator Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi stressed the importance of enhanced coordination between government and business sectors to facilitate regional trade and overcome obstacles. He emphasized the need to boost trade volumes to create job opportunities and bolster the country's foreign reserves.

In response to banking hurdles at Taftan border, Haji Jabir urged the State Bank of Pakistan to intervene and instruct commercial banks to support exporters dealing with Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics. The meeting attendees underscored the vital role of regional trade in alleviating economic pressures and expanding earning prospects for the populace.

The demands put forth by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Exporters Association underscore the necessity for government support in promoting exports to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics. Addressing payment incentives, currency conversion, and banking obstacles are crucial steps towards enhancing regional trade and fostering economic growth.
