EB Capital, led by billionaire Marcelo Claure, is attracting Saudi investors for a $600M fund supporting Brazil's climate and energy sector. The initiative strengthens trade relations and aligns with Saudi Arabia's economic diversification goals. A summit themed 'Invest in Dignity' will focus on renewable energy and social impact investments.

A Brazilian investment firm, EB Capital Gestao de Recursos Ltda, led by billionaire Marcelo Claure, is aiming to attract Saudi investors to establish a $600 million fund dedicated to supporting Brazil's climate and energy sector. This initiative, set to launch in the third quarter of this year, with half of the funds expected to come from Saudi Arabia, is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen trade and investment relations between Brazil and Saudi Arabia.

The fund presents a promising opportunity for Saudi investors to enter the Brazilian market, as highlighted by Eduardo Melzer, the CEO of EB Capital. It also aligns with Saudi Arabia's goals of economic diversification, carbon emissions reduction, and ensuring a stable supply of essential commodities. Brazil, on the other hand, aims to attract investments for energy transition projects and agricultural initiatives.

Headquartered in Sao Paulo, EB Capital manages assets worth approximately $1 billion and focuses on attracting institutional investors and sovereign funds globally. The firm's portfolio includes 16 companies operating in sectors like fiber optics, recycling, education, and bio-products derived from agricultural and industrial waste.

Last year, EB Capital received a significant boost when Marcelo Claure, a former executive of SoftBank Group Corp., acquired a minority stake in the firm and became a partner. The Future Investment Initiative Institute, supported by the Saudi sovereign fund, is set to host a summit in Rio de Janeiro, themed 'Invest in Dignity,' from June 11 to 13. The summit will explore investments in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and social impact, with the participation of key investors like Marcelo Claure and Saudi officials such as Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the governor of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and chairman of Saudi Aramco.

Discussions at the summit will emphasize the importance of protecting and prioritizing the dignity of all citizens in economic decision-making processes, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainable and impactful investments.
