Mian Anjum Nisar, Chairman of BMP, warns of industry closures and unemployment in Pakistan due to escalating energy prices. Urges government action for fixed gas prices and affordable energy alternatives to maintain competitiveness.

The Chairman of the Businessmen Panel (BMP) of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), MianAnjumNisar, has raised concerns over the escalating energy prices in Pakistan. He has warned that if the government does not take immediate action to reverse the decision, it could lead to the closure of numerous industries, a rise in unemployment rates, and a decline in Pakistan's export capabilities.

MianAnjumNisar emphasized the urgent need for the government to establish a fixed gas price for industries and explore affordable energy alternatives to maintain the competitiveness of Pakistani products in the global market. He criticized the government for continuously increasing gas and electricity prices to unsustainable levels, making the trade and industry sectors uncompetitive and hindering economic growth.

The BMP leader strongly opposed the recent gas tariff hike approved by the Economic Coordination Committee and the caretaker government. He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the decision to prevent industrial collapse, declining exports, and mass unemployment. MianAnjumNisar highlighted the detrimental impact of high energy prices on manufacturing growth and the overall economy, urging the government to prioritize the interests of the national economy and save industries from further distress.

In conclusion, the Chairman of BMP issued a stark warning that failure to address the energy price surge could have severe consequences for Pakistan's industrial sector and economy at large. The business community's plea for affordable electricity tariffs remains unmet, raising concerns about the sustainability of industries in the face of escalating energy costs.
