The federal government in Pakistan is proactively promoting electric vehicles and expanding NADRA services to enhance citizen services and ensure transparency in government operations.

The federal government is taking proactive steps to promote the use of electric vehicles in Pakistan. Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar recently announced the import of thirty electric buses from China, which are now stationed at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad. These buses are equipped with modern charging facilities, marking a significant move towards reducing environmental impact and decreasing reliance on imported fuel.

In addition to the electric vehicle initiative, Minister Tarar shared plans for the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to expand its services across the country. NADRA aims to increase its population data registration coverage to nearly 11,777 union councils nationwide. The expansion will begin with 1150 councils in urban areas before reaching rural regions. Within the next 2.5 years, small NADRA Centers will be established to provide essential services such as child registration certificates, cancellation of National Identity Cards (NIC) due to death, and NIC reprints or replacements.

NADRA has also introduced mobile teams equipped with necessary tools to assist elderly and disabled individuals who may face challenges in accessing registration offices. These teams have already resolved approximately 16,700 cases, focusing initially on urban areas and gradually expanding to semi-urban and remote regions.

Leader of the House Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of transparency in the privatization process. He proposed the formation of a special committee to investigate the issues surrounding the failed privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills, which resulted in significant financial losses.

The government's efforts to promote electric vehicles and enhance public services through NADRA's expansion demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability and improved citizen services. These initiatives aim to address key challenges while ensuring transparency and accountability in government operations, ultimately benefiting the nation as a whole.
