K-Royal Culture Festival Celebrates Hanbok and Korean Heritage

The K-Royal Culture Festival, a grand celebration of Korea's rich heritage, is marking its 10th anniversary this year. This festival is the largest cultural heritage event in Korea, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to dive deep into traditional Korean culture. Set against the stunning backdrop of royal palaces, the festival takes place biannually in spring and fall. This spring, the festival attracted over 600,000 visitors from both Korea and around the world, showcasing its immense popularity.

This fall, the festival coincides with Hangeul Day, a national holiday that honors the creation of the Korean alphabet, known as "Hangeul." From October 9 to 13, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities centered around Hanbok, the traditional Korean clothing. The "Palace Concert: Ballet x Sujecheon," which combines ballet and traditional court music, will return with an expanded program, allowing more attendees to enjoy this unique performance.

At Changdeokgung, the "Awakening the Morning Palace" program will invite visitors to enjoy a serene morning stroll through the palace, guided by captivating stories from local artists and historians. Meanwhile, Changgyeonggung will host a special performance titled "Peach Blossom: A Sorrowful Scene," which explores the lives of historical figures, providing a unique and emotional experience for the audience.

For those unable to attend in person, the K-Royal Culture Festival will also offer online programs, allowing participants to engage from the comfort of their homes. The "Genre Painting for All" initiative will enable individuals to create and share their own Hanbok-clad characters online.
