UNI International organized a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival for Froebel’s International School, celebrating Chinese culture with storytelling, dance, and mooncakes.
ISLAMABAD: UNI International recently organized a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival event for the students of Froebel’s International School in F-7, Islamabad. This festival is one of the most significant traditional celebrations in Chinese culture, and it provided a fantastic opportunity for both students and teachers to immerse themselves in its rich history and customs.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from Mr. Max Ma, the Founder and CEO of UNI International. His enthusiasm set a positive tone for the day. Following his introduction, Madam Sienna Xi, the Academic Director of UNI International, captivated the audience with an engaging storytelling session. She shared the fascinating history and importance of the Mid-Autumn Festival, using pictures and videos to enhance the experience. The students were particularly delighted by the physical dance performances by Chinese students and the interactive Chinese language learning games.
Throughout the event, students participated in various hands-on activities that not only entertained but also educated them about the festival's traditions. A highlight of the day was the delicious mooncakes, a traditional treat associated with the festival. These mooncakes came in various flavors, allowing students to experience a taste of this cultural delicacy.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Full Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese Lunar Year. It is a time for families and friends to come together, enjoy mooncakes, and appreciate the beauty of the full moon. Traditionally, the moon during this festival is believed to be brighter and fuller than at any other time of the year, symbolizing unity and togetherness.
Mooncakes, which are round cakes about the size of hockey pucks, are the most famous food associated with this festival. Their size, flavor, and style can vary significantly depending on the region of China, making them a delightful treat to explore.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is not just a celebration of the harvest and the moon; it is a reminder of the importance of family, friendship, and cultural heritage. Events like the one hosted by UNI International play a crucial role in educating young minds about diverse cultures, fostering appreciation and understanding among students. As we celebrate such festivals, we not only honor traditions but also build bridges between different cultures, enriching our global community.
