Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudry of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recently chaired a crucial meeting to discuss the preparations for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2024-25, which will be conducted by Khyber Medical University (KMU). The meeting, attended by key officials including Additional Chief Secretary Home Abid Majeed and Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, focused on ensuring a smooth and efficient testing process for aspiring medical and dental students.

The meeting highlighted the commendable efforts and administrative accomplishments of KMU during the previous year's MDCAT. Chief Secretary Chaudry expressed his commitment to providing unwavering support for the upcoming test. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet has officially designated KMU as the admitting university for the 2024-25 session onwards, entrusting the university with the responsibility of overseeing a centralized MDCAT at the provincial level and managing admissions to both public and private medical/dental colleges in the region.

It is important to note that medical universities in other provinces of Pakistan, such as UHS, DOW, Bolan, and ZSMU, are responsible for conducting MDCAT and facilitating admissions to medical and dental colleges in Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, and Islamabad, respectively. Last year, KMU successfully conducted MDCAT-2023 under the directive of the provincial government, ensuring fairness, transparency, and merit-based admissions.

Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Vice-Chancellor of KMU, expressed confidence in the preparations for the upcoming MDCAT, emphasizing the collaborative efforts with the KP government. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudry, and the Cabinet have pledged their full cooperation with KMU to ensure the successful execution of the test. The final date for MDCAT will be determined by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

The meeting was attended by various officials, including Additional Secretary KP Abid Majeed, Secretaries from the Higher Education Department and Health departments, VC KMU Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, and representatives from the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Commissioners from different regions.

The upcoming MDCAT 2024-25, under the supervision of KMU, holds significant importance for aspiring medical and dental students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With the unwavering support of the government and the dedication of key officials, the test is poised to be conducted efficiently and fairly, ensuring merit-based admissions to medical and dental colleges in the province.
