EU Delegation Visits Dadu, Sindh for Flood Relief Assessment

The European Union (EU) delegation, led by Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka, visited Dadu, Sindh, to assess the impact of EU support on flood-affected communities. Following the devastating floods in 2022, the EU launched a relief and recovery initiative focusing on immediate aid and long-term resilience.

The delegation inspected EU-funded projects in Dadu, including initiatives by the UN World Food Programme, UNICEF, and Save the Children International. They observed cash assistance distribution, rainwater harvesting ponds, and women entrepreneurs restarting businesses. UNICEF's efforts in child protection and education were also highlighted, with rehabilitated schools providing safe facilities for students.

SCI Pakistan showcased projects like Child-friendly Spaces and Climate-Resilient Housing. The delegation emphasized the EU's ongoing commitment to supporting development in Pakistan, especially in the face of climate change challenges.

With a financial volume of EUR 12 million, these projects are benefiting over 22,000 households in 13 districts across Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Overall, the EU has allocated EUR 227 million in grant aid for humanitarian and recovery projects in flood-affected areas, with additional support from EU Member States.
