The Director General of ISPR discloses Afghan link in Chinese engineer assassination plot, emphasizing security measures and commitment to combating terrorism and misinformation in Pakistan.

The Director General of Inter-Service Public Relations has disclosed that the recent plot to assassinate Chinese engineers in Besham was orchestrated in Afghanistan, with the suicide bomber and vehicle used in the attack originating from there. In response to this threat, stringent security measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of the 29,000 Chinese nationals residing in Pakistan, particularly the 2,500 individuals involved in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Furthermore, the Army Chief has underscored the imperative of eliminating terrorists from Pakistan and emphasized the nation's preparedness to defend its integrity and sovereignty. Expressing unwavering support for Kashmiri self-determination, Pakistan has also condemned the actions of India in the region.

The authorities have apprehended four key suspects in connection with the plot, and over 13,000 intelligence-based operations have been conducted against terrorist elements. Calls for justice in previous attacks on military installations and memorials of martyrs have been reiterated, with evidence pointing towards the involvement of a specific group in the events of May 9.

The Director General of ISPR has expressed openness to the formation of a Judicial Commission to investigate these incidents, highlighting concerns about attempts to disrupt Pakistan's agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Emphasizing the importance of upholding Pakistan's integrity, security, and defense, the authorities have stressed the need for legislation to combat misinformation and propaganda.

The commitment to safeguarding the lives of Chinese nationals, eradicating terrorism, supporting Kashmiri rights, and upholding national security remains a top priority for Pakistan. The willingness to investigate and address security threats, along with the call for legislative measures to combat misinformation, reflects the government's dedication to ensuring a secure and stable environment for its citizens and international partners.
