The Karachi Meteorological Department updates on rain forecast, KWSC takes measures to prevent flooding, and citizens advised to stay indoors during rainfall.

The Meteorological Department has issued an updated advisory for Karachi, indicating that heavy rainfall is not expected in the city. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz clarified that while rain continues in parts of Balochistan, Karachi is unlikely to experience significant downpours. The rain system is moving towards Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the possibility of heavy rain in those regions. Meanwhile, torrential rains are forecasted along the coastal belt in Balochistan.

As a precautionary measure, Chief Operating Officer of Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), Engineer Asadullah Khan, has deployed 55 suction machines to key highways in the city. Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has declared a rain emergency, and the KWSC has made necessary arrangements to handle any potential flooding. Khan emphasized the importance of not tampering with manhole covers during the rainy season, as they are not designed for rainwater drainage.

The KWSC staff, particularly sewerage personnel, are on high alert, with leave for engineering wing staff canceled. The corporation is fully prepared to manage rain-related challenges, maintaining close coordination with local authorities, including the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). Citizens are advised to limit unnecessary travel and stay indoors during rainfall unless absolutely necessary.

In conclusion, Karachi residents are reassured that measures are in place to address any rain-related issues, with the KWSC actively working to ensure smooth rainwater drainage operations across the city.
