The Pakistan Bar Council demands an impartial judicial commission to investigate allegations of interference by judges, emphasizing the importance of upholding judicial independence and safeguarding the rule of law in Pakistan.
The top body of lawyers in the country has called for the formation of a judicial commission to conduct an impartial investigation into allegations of interference and intimidation by six judges of the Islamabad High Court against the country's security agencies. This demand was made during an emergent meeting of the Pakistan Bar Council in Islamabad, chaired by PBC Vice Chairman Riazat Ali Sahar.
The Pakistan Bar Council expressed deep concern over the accusations made by the judges, stating that the independence and impartiality of the judiciary are paramount. They emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, free from external influences, to uphold the rule of law and protect the fundamental rights of Pakistani citizens.
The PBC also condemned calls for the resignation of Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa and IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, labeling such demands as detrimental to the unity of the judiciary. They urged the Supreme Court to expedite the suo moto case initiated in response to the judges' concerns.
