Pakistan and Finland collaborate on a vocational training program to equip young Pakistanis with industry-specific skills, creating pathways for employment in Finland and fostering economic growth.

Pakistan and Finland have partnered to introduce a vocational training program designed to enhance the skills of young Pakistanis. This initiative, backed by a 1.5 million euro grant, aims to cultivate expertise in key sectors like hospitality, construction, and healthcare. The project, led by Finland’s Turku Vocational Institute and Pakistan’s National University of Science and Technology (NUTECH), received approval from the European Union as part of the Pakistan-Finland Cooperation framework. It utilizes the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) platform to facilitate cooperation.

The program offers a dual advantage by providing Pakistani youth with industry-specific skills aligned with EU standards and creating pathways for potential employment opportunities in Finland. The inaugural group of graduates is anticipated to explore job prospects in Finland by October 2025. A spokesperson for the council highlighted the significance of the Talent Boost program within SIFC's comprehensive strategy to drive economic growth in Pakistan. By empowering youth with valuable skills and enabling international job opportunities, the initiative aims to enhance their earning potential and boost contributions to the national economy through remittances.

The collaboration between Pakistan and Finland through this vocational training program signifies a promising step towards equipping young individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in high-demand sectors and access international employment opportunities, ultimately fostering economic development and prosperity.
