Punjab Police apprehended 99,683 proclaimed offenders in nine months, enhancing public safety and tackling crime across the province.

In a significant crackdown on crime, the Punjab Police have successfully apprehended a staggering 99,683 proclaimed offenders (POs) across the province within a span of just nine months. This impressive figure highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to maintain public safety and uphold the rule of law in the region.

According to a police spokesperson, the arrests included 17,290 individuals categorized as Category-A offenders, who are typically involved in more serious crimes, while 82,393 were classified as Category-B offenders. Additionally, the police have also detained over 55,000 judicial fugitives, which includes 4,858 from Category-A and 50,979 from Category-B. This comprehensive approach demonstrates the police's commitment to tackling crime at all levels.

Moreover, the police have targeted more than 26,000 offenders, with 14,819 falling under Category-A and 11,268 under Category-B. Notably, over 83 POs wanted for serious crimes were extradited from other countries, showcasing the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies beyond Pakistan's borders.

In Lahore alone, the police apprehended approximately 57,000 criminals, which included 21,306 POs, 24,767 judicial fugitives, and more than 11,000 target offenders. These numbers reflect a robust strategy to enhance security and reduce crime rates in urban areas.

In addition to these arrests, the Emergency Services Department (ESD) has been actively responding to road accidents across Punjab. In the last 24 hours, the ESD responded to 1,397 road accidents, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of eight individuals and injuries to 1,471 others. Among the injured, 597 people with serious injuries were transported to various hospitals, while 874 victims with minor injuries received immediate treatment at the scene by Rescue medical teams.
