Severe weather in Pakistan causes 24 deaths, injuries, and infrastructure damage. Lightning strikes and heavy rainfall lead to tragic incidents in Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Severe weather conditions have wreaked havoc in various parts of Pakistan, claiming the lives of 24 individuals and injuring several others. The provinces of Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been particularly affected by lightning strikes and heavy rainfall, leading to tragic incidents and significant damage to infrastructure.

In Punjab, 17 people, including children, lost their lives due to lightning strikes in districts such as Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Muzaffargarh. The victims were mostly working in fields when the sudden bolts of lightning struck, resulting in multiple casualties. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has confirmed the death toll and initiated efforts to provide medical aid to the injured and support to the families of the deceased.

Meanwhile, in Balochistan, the death toll rose to eight as more individuals fell victim to lightning strikes and rain-related incidents in areas like Chaman and Dera Bugti. The heavy rainfall caused flash floods and damage to mud houses, exacerbating the situation for the affected communities.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two individuals lost their lives and several others were injured in Lower and Upper Chitral districts. The continuous heavy rain led to road damages, house collapses, and landslides, posing risks to the residents of the affected areas.

The inclement weather conditions have prompted authorities to issue warnings and advisories, urging the public to stay safe, avoid unnecessary travel, and seek shelter in secure locations during the ongoing storms. Efforts are underway to address the aftermath of the severe weather and provide assistance to those impacted by the tragic events.
