Ali Amin Gandapur Criticizes Governor Appointment Process

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has come under scrutiny for his absence at the swearing-in ceremony of the provincial Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. Gandapur defended his decision, labeling the event as a 'waste of time' and criticizing the federal government's appointment process.

Gandapur, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, expressed his disregard for the newly appointed governor, citing concerns over the election results and the legitimacy of the appointment. He emphasized his previous stance of not attending ceremonies for officials elected based on what he referred to as 'Form 47' results.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place on Saturday, saw Faisal Karim Kundi assume the role of the 36th governor of KP, succeeding Haji Ghulam Ali. Kundi, a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), acknowledged the absence of the Chief Minister and attributed it to a busy schedule.

The appointment of Kundi is part of a power-sharing agreement between the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) following the inconclusive results of the February 8 elections. As per the agreement, the PPP secured key positions in various governmental bodies, while pledging support to the PML-N at the federal level.
