Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani highlighted the importance of democracy as the key solution to national issues during the Asma Jahangir Conference 2024. He urged all political parties to unite for the country's advancement, setting aside their differences. Gilani emphasized the significance of eliminating violence and promoting tolerance to foster a peaceful society. He praised the Pakistan People's Party for its sacrifices in upholding democracy, particularly mentioning the implementation of the Constitution in 1973 by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Gilani underscored that differences in opinions are integral to democracy and called for collective efforts in the national interest. He paid tribute to Asma Jahangir's legacy in advocating for human rights and democracy, stating that democracy serves as the foundation for human rights and the resolution of societal challenges.

Other speakers at the conference, including Farooq H. Naik and Deputy Chairman Senate Syedul Khan Nasir, echoed the importance of upholding human rights through democratic principles and dialogue.
