The Islamabad High Court rejects the government's plea to close the case of Kashmiri poet Ahmed Farhad until his appearance, emphasizing accountability and justice in his disappearance. Legal proceedings continue to seek the truth and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has made a significant decision regarding the case of Kashmiri poet Ahmed Farhad, who went missing on May 14. The court dismissed the federal government's request to close the case until Farhad appears in court. This decision came after a petition filed by Farhad's wife, Urooj Zainab, represented by human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali, with Additional Attorney General Munawwar Iqbal representing the government.

During the hearing, it was revealed that Farhad had been in police custody until June 2 and had met his family. The government requested the court to close the case, but Zainab's lawyers argued for accountability for those responsible for Farhad's disappearance, not just his return.

Farhad's family visited DhirKot Police Station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) but could not locate him. They were informed that he had been transferred to Muzaffarabad under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Justice Kayani of the IHC rejected the government's plea, emphasizing that the case would only conclude when Farhad appears in court.

Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan later confirmed that Farhad had indeed been arrested and was in police custody in AJK. Zainab's petition sought her husband's recovery and accountability for those involved in his disappearance. A report from DhirKot Kashmir police station was also presented in court.

Farhad, a well-known poet, was allegedly taken from his home on May 14. The court will continue to address the case until Farhad's appearance, ensuring justice and transparency in this troubling situation.

The ongoing legal proceedings regarding Ahmed Farhad's disappearance highlight the importance of seeking accountability and justice in such cases. The efforts of Farhad's family, supported by dedicated legal representatives, demonstrate a commitment to uncovering the truth and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable. As the case progresses, the hope for Farhad's safe return remains a priority, emphasizing the significance of upholding human rights and the rule of law.
