PTI Secretary-General Omar Ayub faces setback as bail petition denied in riot case, sparking controversy and calls for transparency in legal proceedings.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Omar Ayub faced a setback as his bail petition was denied in a case related to the May 9 riots. Ayub, along with other politicians, including Amjad Khan Niazi and Malik Ehsan Ullah Tiwana, found themselves embroiled in legal proceedings.

Despite Ayub's efforts to attend a special anti-terrorism court in Sargodha, he was thwarted by law enforcement officials, resulting in the rejection of his bail plea. The presence of additional police personnel near the court premises hinted at the anticipation of several leaders appearing for the proceedings.

Ayub alleged that the police obstructed his court appearance purportedly on the orders of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He claimed that security concerns were used as a pretext to prevent him from participating in the court session.

PTI leader and lawyer Babar Awan, who was present at the scene, criticized the government's actions and demanded justice for his clients. He shed light on the difficulties faced by the accused in accessing the court and urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene in the matter.

Reacting to the incident, PTI MNA Asad Qaiser condemned the hindrance to the opposition leader's court appearance and questioned the legality of such interventions. This led to an opposition walkout in protest against the perceived injustice.

Meanwhile, in the Punjab Assembly, PTI-backed lawmaker Hafiz Farhat Abbas expressed concerns over the denial of court access to Ayub and other PTI leaders. He called for the summoning of Punjab's top police official to provide an explanation for the actions taken.

The denial of Omar Ayub's bail petition in the aftermath of the May 9 riots has sparked controversy and raised questions about the fairness of legal proceedings. The incident has not only drawn criticism from PTI members but has also led to calls for transparency and accountability in the judicial process.
