Ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Gaza face deadlock despite progress. US and China play crucial roles in seeking resolution amidst escalating humanitarian crisis.

Recent reports have highlighted 'significant progress' in the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas. Hamas has confirmed engaging in 'in-depth discussions' in Cairo, with leader Ismail Haniyeh expressing eagerness for a comprehensive cease-fire agreement. However, despite these positive developments, no breakthrough has been achieved as both sides continue to exchange fire. Israel has even threatened an offensive push into Rafah, indicating that the Gaza conflict shows no signs of ending anytime soon.

The situation in Gaza has escalated to a critical point, with the World Food Program warning of a 'full-blown famine' in northern Gaza and the World Health Organization cautioning against a potential 'bloodbath' in Rafah. The US Secretary of State has expressed concerns over civilian protection in any potential military operation in Rafah, emphasizing the urgent need for a resolution to prevent further humanitarian tragedies.

Hamas has set conditions for a cease-fire, including the end of Israeli 'aggression', withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and a hostage-swap deal. On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister and the war Cabinet are determined to eliminate Hamas, rejecting international pressure to halt the war and insisting on eradicating the group.

Meanwhile, talks between Hamas and Fatah in Beijing aim to form an interim national Palestinian government, with China emphasizing the necessity of an independent State of Palestine to bring an end to the ongoing violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
