A joint parliamentary delegation from Pakistan is in Beijing to strengthen ties with China, focusing on CPEC, trade, and security for Chinese nationals.

A joint parliamentary delegation comprising members of the ruling parties Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) is currently in Beijing with the aim of enhancing bilateral relations. The delegation, led by former Federal Minister Syed Murtaza Mahmud and Rana Iradat Khan, held a significant meeting with Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Sun Hanyin. Other members of the delegation include Malika Reza, Hasan Murtaza, Nida Khadro, and Qasim Naveed Qamar, along with Hina Pervez Butt, Mahwish Sultana, and other prominent leaders.

Discussions during the meeting primarily focused on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade opportunities, and strengthening overall ties between the two nations. Syed Murtaza Mahmud emphasized the importance of the relationship between Pakistan and China, highlighting CPEC as a vital project that will bring mutual benefits. He also addressed the issue of certain elements in other countries engaging in activities against Chinese nationals, stating that such actions not only pose a threat to China but also impede Pakistan's progress. Mahmud assured that Pakistan and China are committed to working together to counter these hostile elements and ensure the safety of Chinese nationals within Pakistan.

The Pakistani government's dedication to providing full security for Chinese nationals was reiterated during the meeting, underscoring the significance of the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

The joint parliamentary delegation's visit to Beijing signifies Pakistan's strong commitment to further strengthening its ties with China, particularly in the context of the CPEC and broader economic cooperation.
