Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticizes PTI's Senate election boycott, emphasizing dialogue and national interests in politics.

Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for boycotting the elections for the Senate chairman and deputy chairman slots, accusing them of inciting chaos and destruction through politics of denial, violence, and hatred. The PTI's protest stemmed from their belief that the election process was unconstitutional due to an 'incomplete house', as 41 newly elected senators took oath. Despite PTI's objections, PPP leader Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and PML-N's Saidal Nasir Khan were elected unopposed as the Senate chairman and deputy chairman.

Asif emphasized the importance of dialogue and reconciliation among political parties to resolve issues rather than resorting to confrontation. He stressed that decisions must be made in the interest of democracy, the country, and the common man, rejecting unilateral decisions driven by personal interests. The defence minister firmly stated that the majority's decisions cannot be disregarded, urging the opposition to prioritize national interests over individual agendas.

In conclusion, Asif's remarks underscore the need for constructive engagement and cooperation in Pakistan's political landscape to uphold democratic principles and serve the nation's best interests.
