The KP government plans to challenge the PHC ruling on reserve seat oath-taking by approaching the SC, highlighting legal complexities and the importance of judicial review.

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) government has taken a significant decision to challenge the high court's ruling regarding the oath-taking on reserve seats by planning to approach the Supreme Court (SC). The move comes after the provincial cabinet approved a proposal to file a plea in the SC against the verdict of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

The PHC had previously directed the cabinet and chief minister to convene an assembly session within 14 days and administer oaths to minority candidates and women elected to reserve seats. However, the KP government has opted to wait for the SC's decision before calling the assembly session.

This decision highlights the legal complexities surrounding the oath-taking process on reserve seats in KP and underscores the importance of judicial review in ensuring adherence to legal procedures.
