Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), has demanded fresh elections in Pakistan, emphasizing the need for assurance that the military establishment will not meddle in the electoral process. This call came after a press briefing in Islamabad following a meeting of the Central Majlis Shura. Rehman strongly criticized the recent elections, labeling them as 'rigged and unacceptable,' and reiterated his party's stance against what they perceive as interference by the establishment in electoral matters. He stressed the significance of upholding the integrity of the electoral process and urged for the safeguarding of people's voting rights, urging the establishment and intelligence agencies to refrain from involvement in future elections.

During the meeting, discussions also centered on assessing political alliances with other parties aligned with JUI-F, considering these partnerships as part of a broader political strategy. Despite internal divisions within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its failure to establish a negotiation team, Rehman extended an offer for dialogue with PTI while criticizing the government's perceived reluctance in addressing JUI-F's concerns.

Shifting focus to national security issues, Rehman highlighted the consequences of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, noting a surge in national anxiety and terrorism since 2001. He criticized government statements regarding potential actions in Afghanistan, drawing parallels to Pakistan's decision to permit US bases post-9/11. While expressing support for the military in national defence, Rehman condemned a recent resolution by the US House of Representatives, considering it a diplomatic setback for Pakistan and advising the US to avoid interference in Pakistan's internal affairs.

On the international front, Rehman denounced the global silence on Gaza and questioned the current Muslim leadership's legacy for future generations. He also reiterated JUI-F's support for Pakistan-China relations, recognizing the need to rebuild Chinese confidence in investing in Pakistan.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman's call for fresh elections in Pakistan, coupled with his criticism of interference in the electoral process and his stance on national security and international relations, underscores the ongoing political dynamics in the country. His emphasis on upholding democratic principles and safeguarding voting rights resonates with the need for transparent and fair electoral practices. Rehman's statements also shed light on the complexities of Pakistan's foreign policy and the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic ties while safeguarding national interests.
