PM Shehbaz Sharif to visit Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan for key summits addressing the Palestinian cause and climate change.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a significant diplomatic journey next week, visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan. This trip is crucial as it involves attending two major summits: the Second Joint Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh and the World Leaders Climate Action Summit in Baku. These events are pivotal in addressing pressing global issues, particularly the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the urgent need for climate action.

The Prime Minister's visit to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for November 11, where he will participate in the Arab Islamic Summit. This summit is a follow-up to last year's extraordinary meeting, which focused on the dire situation in Gaza and other occupied territories. During this summit, PM Shehbaz is expected to voice Pakistan's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He will advocate for an immediate end to the violence in Gaza, calling for a ceasefire and an end to Israeli actions that threaten regional stability. Furthermore, he will emphasize the need for international protection for the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

In addition to addressing the Palestinian issue, the summit will gather heads of state and senior officials from various Arab League and OIC member countries, providing a platform for dialogue and cooperation on regional challenges. On the sidelines of the summit, PM Shehbaz is also expected to engage in bilateral meetings with other leaders, fostering relationships that could lead to collaborative efforts in the future.

Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister will head to Baku, Azerbaijan, to attend the World Leaders Climate Action Summit on November 12-13. This summit is part of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference, known as COP29. Climate change is a pressing issue that affects millions globally, including many in Pakistan. During this summit, PM Shehbaz will advocate for climate solidarity and justice, emphasizing the importance of equity and shared responsibilities among nations.

Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar and other senior officials, the Prime Minister's participation in COP29 underscores Pakistan's commitment to addressing climate change. The country has been significantly impacted by climate-related disasters, making it essential for Pakistan to contribute positively to global discussions and actions regarding climate change.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's upcoming visits to Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan highlight Pakistan's active role in international diplomacy. By addressing critical issues such as the Palestinian cause and climate change, Pakistan aims to strengthen its position on the global stage. As the world grapples with these challenges, the Prime Minister's efforts could pave the way for meaningful dialogue and action, ultimately benefiting not just Pakistan but the international community as a whole.
