The stage is set for the by-polls on 12 seats of the Punjab Assembly, with the ruling PMLN facing a tough test from the PTI under the banner of Sunni Ittehad Council. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and senior PMLN leadership are gearing up for the first phase of the 2024 by-polls. The by-polls are being held on vacant seats countrywide, but Punjab is expected to be a battleground, especially in Lahore and its adjoining districts.

The by-polls also feature interesting matchups, such as former CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi facing off against Musa Elahi in Gujrat.
