Internal rift within PTI in Bajaur tribal district over candidate selection for by-elections, emphasizing support for Guldad Khan and preference for candidates with regional experience.

In Bajaur tribal district, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is currently experiencing internal disagreements regarding the allocation of party tickets for the upcoming PK-22 by-elections. The rift stems from differing opinions among PTI members on the nomination of a candidate for the vacant seat.

A group of PTI members, led by senior figures from Nawagai and Khar tehsils, recently held a joint press conference at the Bajaur Press Club to voice their support for former MNA Guldad Khan as the preferred candidate. They have gone as far as to issue a warning that they will retract their backing if another individual is selected for the ticket. The members, including Malik Ziarat Khan, Liaqat Khan, Fazal Hadi, Ahtisham, Riaz, Jahanzaib, Mutiullah, and Suleman Khan, are resolute in their demand for Guldad Khan to be chosen and have threatened to endorse him as an independent candidate should their request be disregarded.

The group has explicitly expressed their disapproval of the inclusion of 'parachute candidates' in the selection process, emphasizing their preference for candidates with a proven track record within the region. They have lauded Guldad Khan's previous accomplishments, highlighting the successful implementation of development projects in the Malakand to Chamarkand area.

The internal discord within the PTI leadership in Bajaur tribal district underscores the complexities involved in candidate selection processes within political parties. As the situation unfolds, the party faces the challenge of reconciling divergent viewpoints while striving to maintain unity and coherence. The outcome of this internal debate will not only impact the upcoming by-elections but also shed light on the dynamics of power and influence within the PTI ranks.
