Internal rift within PTI as lawmakers express discontent over leadership's handling of Imran Khan's detention, prompting calls for a more focused approach to address party challenges.

Cracks have emerged within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, with 21 lawmakers aligning themselves with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), signaling a potential split within the party. This rift stems from dissatisfaction with the leadership's inability to secure the release of PTI founder Imran Khan from jail.

Following Shehryar Afridi's resignation statement, a group of 27 PTI legislators engaged in discussions, with some expressing discontent over the party leadership's performance. This discontent has led to discussions about potentially resigning from the assembly or forming a forward bloc.

Concerns have been raised about certain leaders prioritizing personal ambitions over efforts to secure the release of imprisoned party members. MNA Shandana Gulzar Khan hinted at the possibility of resignations if actions to free Imran Khan were not successful.

Allegations of compromised leadership in parliamentary roles and a lack of focus on core party issues have further fueled discontent among PTI lawmakers. Some members have openly criticized the party's top leadership for their handling of the situation.

PTI's Secretary General, Omar Ayub Khan, has expressed a willingness to engage in talks with the government under specific conditions, including the release of imprisoned party members. Imran Khan, the former prime minister, has been detained on various charges since his ousting from power.

Despite recent legal developments in other cases, Imran Khan remains incarcerated due to a conviction in one of the cases. This ongoing situation has created tensions within the PTI, prompting calls from some members for a more focused approach to address the party's challenges.

The internal discord within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party underscores the growing dissatisfaction among lawmakers over the handling of Imran Khan's detention. As the situation unfolds, the party faces the challenge of uniting its members and refocusing on its core objectives to navigate through this turbulent period.
