Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) files a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the allocation of reserved seats, claiming unjust deprivation and constitutional violations. The case highlights the complexities of seat allocation and the party's commitment to fair representation.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken a significant step by filing a petition in the Supreme Court to be included as a party in the case concerning reserved seats. The petition, presented by PTI and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, argues that PTI deserves a role in the ongoing Sunni Ittehad Council case. PTI alleges that false accusations were made against them by the Election Commission during the appeals process. They contend that both PTI and the Sunni Ittehad Council were unjustly deprived of their rightful reserved seats, which were instead allocated to other parties. PTI firmly asserts that this allocation of seats to other parties is in violation of the constitution.

Both the Sunni Ittehad Council and PTI are eligible for reserved seats, yet only the former was permitted to submit a list. PTI stresses that the redistribution of their seats among other parties contradicts the will of the people. PTI-supported candidates expressed their reluctance to join the 13 other parties. Furthermore, PTI highlights the alliance between the Sunni Ittehad Council and themselves, exemplified by the victory of Hamid Raza, a PTI-supported candidate, in constituency 104. PTI argues that according to Article 51, independent candidates are not obligated to merge with parties that have won multiple seats.

The petition filed by PTI in the Supreme Court sheds light on the complexities surrounding the allocation of reserved seats and the alleged injustices faced by PTI in this regard. This legal move underscores the party's commitment to upholding constitutional principles and advocating for fair representation. As the case unfolds, it will be crucial to observe how the Supreme Court addresses the concerns raised by PTI and the implications it may have on future electoral processes.
