A recent survey conducted by the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) sheds light on the public perception of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's government in Punjab. The survey, titled 'Punjab Speaks—Public Perception of Performance,' focused on gauging the satisfaction levels of the population with the government's initiatives, particularly in reducing commodity prices.

The survey, conducted to mark Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's first 100 days in office, revealed that a majority of respondents, 55% overall, expressed satisfaction with the government's performance. Notably, urban areas showed higher approval rates at 62% compared to 48% in rural regions.

Among the key findings, 53% of respondents believed that the government's measures effectively reduced commodity prices. The most popular initiative was the reduction in Roti prices, favored by 44% of respondents, followed by projects like the Solar Panel Programme and the 200 Clinic on Wheels initiative.

Furthermore, the survey highlighted a significant 60% increase in Maryam Nawaz's popularity over the past three months. However, dissatisfaction levels were higher in rural areas at 42% compared to 28% in urban areas. Among dissatisfied respondents, 35% expressed skepticism about the government's ability to improve the situation, while 19% were willing to give the government more time.

Conducted from May 29 to June 12, 2024, the survey included 2,010 respondents, ensuring a diverse demographic representation. With a response rate of approximately 45%, the survey results carry a margin of error not exceeding ±3-4% at a 95% confidence level.

The survey results indicate a mixed public sentiment towards Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's government in Punjab, with a majority expressing satisfaction with the government's performance. While urban areas show higher approval rates, rural regions exhibit higher dissatisfaction levels. The government's initiatives in reducing commodity prices have garnered positive feedback, but there remains room for improvement to address concerns in certain segments of the population.
