Gurugram is gearing up for a heated battle as the Lok Sabha elections approach, with actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar emerging as the Congress' candidate for the Gurgaon seat. Babbar, who paid a visit to Sheetla Mata Mandir before filing his nomination, is set to face tough competition from BJP's Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh and Jannayak Janata Party's Fazilpuria in a triangular contest.

The political landscape in Gurgaon is further enlivened by the expected presence of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at an upcoming rally. Babbar, in response to queries about his connection to the region, emphasized his roots in Haryana, stating that his family settled in Ambala post-Partition and he has numerous relatives in Gurugram and Faridabad.

Addressing speculations about differences with senior Congress leader Captain Ajay Yadav, Babbar clarified that Yadav is like an elder brother to him, and any misunderstandings will be resolved through a forthcoming meeting. Yadav had previously sought a ticket from the Congress high command without success.

Raj Babbar's foray into Haryana politics marks a significant shift from his previous engagements in Uttar Pradesh. With the stage set for a closely watched electoral contest, all eyes are on the outcome of the battle for the Gurgaon Lok Sabha seat.
