Islamabad is gearing up to host a significant international event, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference, on October 15-16. This conference will see the participation of 12 heads of government, making it a crucial occasion for Pakistan on the global stage. Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, has assured the public that the capital has been made completely safe and secure for this high-profile gathering.
In a recent media briefing, Minister Tarar emphasized that any individuals or groups intending to disrupt the conference would not be tolerated. He stated, “Those who have a mindset to conspire against the country should better stay at home as no miscreant will be allowed to disrupt the SCO Conference in Islamabad.” This strong statement reflects the government's commitment to maintaining order and ensuring the success of the event.
Tarar also addressed the planned protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asserting that such announcements would not affect the security measures in place. He confidently remarked, “It (SCO Conference) will go as planned and will elevate Pakistan’s prestige and improve its image at international level.” This highlights the government's determination to present Pakistan as a stable and welcoming host for international dignitaries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a personal interest in the preparations for the conference, reviewing all arrangements to ensure a smooth reception for the visiting heads of government. The minister noted, “This shows the importance of such a grand event in Pakistan which will be instrumental to boost the economic growth in the country.” The government believes that hosting the SCO Conference will not only enhance Pakistan's international standing but also foster economic opportunities.
Security measures have been meticulously planned, with the deployment of law enforcement agencies, including the Pakistan Army and Rangers, to ensure the safety of all participants. Tarar expressed confidence that the heads of governments would receive a warm welcome, stating that the entire nation is ready to celebrate this event with pride. The capital has been adorned with decorations, aimed at leaving a positive impression on the visiting delegations.
The SCO Conference represents a pivotal moment for Pakistan, offering a platform to strengthen regional cooperation and discuss vital issues. As the country prepares to showcase its hospitality and commitment to international collaboration, it is essential for all citizens to support these efforts. The success of this conference could pave the way for enhanced diplomatic relations and economic growth, ultimately benefiting the nation as a whole.
