KARACHI: In a recent statement, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon defended the performance of the Sindh government, asserting that a negative propaganda campaign has been launched against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He emphasized that this campaign unfairly attributes inaction and negativity to the governance of the Sindh government, despite its many achievements.

During a meeting with a delegation of journalists from Islamabad at the Directorate of Electronic and Print Media in Clifton, Karachi, Memon highlighted the various areas where the Sindh government excels. He pointed out that the healthcare facilities established by the Sindh government are not only serving the people of Sindh but also citizens from other parts of the country and neighboring nations. This is a testament to the government's commitment to providing quality healthcare services.

Welcoming the journalists, Memon noted that they were invited to Karachi to witness firsthand the development initiatives undertaken by the Sindh government in sectors such as health and education. He mentioned that journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Lahore had also been invited previously to share information about the facilities available in Sindh.

One of the significant achievements highlighted by Memon was the availability of lung transplants in Pakistan, a service that previously required patients to travel to India. Thanks to the efforts of the PPP and the Sindh government, this life-saving procedure is now offered free of charge within the country.

Memon also spoke about the empowerment of women initiated by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto through programs like the Lady Health Workers initiative. He explained how the Benazir Income Support Program helped many women in backward areas obtain identity cards, thereby enhancing their social standing and access to services.

Furthermore, Memon asserted that the roads managed by the Sindh government are among the best in the country. He urged the federal government to prioritize the maintenance of the National Highway, which is crucial for the transportation of goods across Pakistan.

Highlighting the Sindh government's commitment to the health and well-being of its citizens, Memon stated that billions of rupees are being invested in various sectors, including healthcare. He mentioned that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had advised his party members to learn from Sindh's initiatives.

Discussing the Thar Coal project, Memon explained that it was initially launched by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto but faced delays until President Asif Ali Zardari revived it. Today, the project contributes thousands of megawatts of electricity to the national grid, addressing the energy crisis in the country.

Memon emphasized that the PPP has made significant contributions to the minority community by building temples, churches, and community centers. He also addressed misconceptions about the law and order situation in Sindh, asserting that the reality is much better than portrayed. He cited the safe travel of journalists from Sukkur to Thar as evidence of the region's security.

Looking ahead, Memon mentioned that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari are keen on establishing a National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Balochistan, and the Sindh government is ready to assist other provinces in similar projects.

Despite facing challenges due to a short-lived federal government, Memon reiterated the Sindh government's commitment to serving its people. He concluded by stating that the PPP has always aimed to discourage politics based on bigotry and hatred, emphasizing the importance of unity and understanding among all communities.

The Sindh government's efforts in various sectors, particularly in healthcare and infrastructure, reflect its commitment to the welfare of its citizens. As the province continues to develop, it is essential for the public to remain informed about the initiatives being undertaken and to engage in constructive dialogue about the future of governance in Sindh.
