Sheikh Rasheed Urges Army Chief for Amnesty Proposal

Former federal minister Sheikh Rasheed has urged Army Chief Gen Asim Munir to consider granting general amnesty to prisoners during the upcoming Eidul Azha. Expressing concerns over court overcrowding and potential wrongful accusations, Sheikh Rasheed highlighted the need for compassion towards prisoners, emphasizing the possibility of innocence among a significant portion of the prison population.

Sheikh Rasheed emphasized the importance of maintaining the army's reputation and urged for a gesture of amnesty as a compassionate act during Eidul Azha. He specifically appealed to Army Chief General Asim Munir and DG ISI Nadeem Anjum to consider this proposal, aiming to address the issue of overcrowded prisons and potential miscarriages of justice.

Looking ahead, Sheikh Rasheed predicted a critical 45-day period with increased political activity and crucial decisions expected in the country. He expressed concerns about the economic climate, emphasizing the importance of retaining local investors and attracting foreign investment to prevent a looming crisis in Pakistan. Citing distressing incidents like thefts during funerals in Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rasheed highlighted the deteriorating situation that requires immediate attention.

In a final appeal for unity, Sheikh Rasheed called on all political factions to support collective efforts, particularly urging the PTI founder to recognize the significance of collaboration. Stressing the urgency of the situation, he underscored the upcoming month of June as pivotal for political developments in the country.
