Hamza Tufail selected as technical official for Azlan Shah Cup

Promising talent Hamza Tufail, from the remote village of Arbab Landy, has been selected as a technical official for the prestigious 30th Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup-2024 in Malaysia. This announcement was made by the Asian Umpire Manager and the Federation of International Hockey (FIH). Faiz Muhammad Fazi, a former international hockey referee and current Manager Umpire at FIH, praised Tufail's energy and expertise, deeming him worthy of officiating matches at the tournament.

Tufail's selection was based on his outstanding performance in the Hockey League, as well as the National Senior and National Junior Hockey Championships. The Pakistan Hockey Federation's umpire managers provided glowing feedback, leading to Tufail's departure for Malaysia on May 2nd to represent Pakistan at the Azlan Shah Cup.

Hailing from Peshawar, Tufail's participation in the tournament as a technical official brings honor to his city. His father, Tufail Ahmad, a former hockey player for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, commended his son's knowledge of hockey rules and expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Hockey Federation and Faiz Muhammad Faizi for the nomination.

Faizi, known for organizing international tournaments and providing umpiring training, played a crucial role in Tufail's development as an umpire and technical official. Tufail's journey from a small village to representing Pakistan on an international stage is a testament to his dedication and talent in the sport of hockey.
