Pramac Racing, a MotoGP team, shifts from Ducati to Yamaha for the 2025 season, receiving factory spec bikes and new opportunities for collaboration.

Pramac Racing, a prominent team in the MotoGP world, has recently announced a major change in their partnership. After a long-standing collaboration with Ducati spanning two decades, Pramac Racing will be transitioning to become a second Yamaha factory team starting from the 2025 season.

Since 2004, Pramac Racing has been using Ducati's Desmosedici bikes, but this move signifies a significant shift in their strategy. Going forward, the team will receive factory spec YZR-M1 bikes from Yamaha, with riders being directly contracted by the Japanese manufacturer.

While Pramac Racing will maintain its status as an independent team, the switch to Yamaha marks a new chapter for the Tuscany-based outfit. The team is yet to finalize their rider lineup for the upcoming season, with Jorge Martin, the current MotoGP championship leader, choosing to move to Aprilia after missing out on a spot in the factory Ducati team.

Lin Jarvis, the managing director of Yamaha Motor Racing, has expressed excitement about the new partnership with Pramac Racing. He emphasized that this collaboration represents a departure from the traditional satellite team model. Under the new agreement, Yamaha will provide Pramac Racing with factory bikes of the same specification used by the Yamaha MotoGP team.

It is interesting to note that Pramac Racing had been receiving bikes equivalent to the factory Ducati teams since 2020. Notably, when Pramac first entered MotoGP in 2002, they initially embarked on their journey with Yamaha.

The decision by Pramac Racing to switch to Yamaha from Ducati in 2025 marks a significant development in the MotoGP landscape. This move not only alters the dynamics of the team but also opens up new opportunities for collaboration and competition in the sport. Fans can look forward to an exciting 2025 season as Pramac Racing embraces this new chapter with Yamaha.
